I HAVE COME TO BELIEVE

I have come to believe that women over 50 are more trouble than they are worth.
They get so bone headed and stubborn that dealing with them can be very frustrating.
Take my own lovely bride of 45 years, blonde hair, blue eyes, large chest, and generally pretty loveable, at least until she hit that terrible number, five zero.

Now she is no dummy, Masters Degree , 30 years in the classroom, and a top of the line educator. And she grew up poor on a small farm with animals and a large garden, so she has a practical side as well.
But this seems to have faded with age.

 An example- - -

Being on dialysis we have to do a lot of medical oriented crap in our clean room. This involves cutting gauze, under-layments and materials for a bleach soak. So I keep a good pair Fiskar Scissors on the shelf near where this takes place.
We also have to open a lot of boxes sealed with clear shipping tape, we use 50 boxes of supplies a month. To open these I keep a nice Gerber  knife near the stack of boxes.
So what does she do to open the boxes, she snags the scissors off the shelf across the room. Two or three boxes and there is a nice sticky film on the scissors and they won’t cut shit !

I ask why she does not use the knife, but she says she can never find it. This is bull because it always sits in the same spot.  So I see her get ready to open some boxes. As she moves toward the scissors, I lead her by the hand to the knife. And the “rest of the story” comes out. She does not know how to open the knife. Now knives are something I am real anal about, and this Gerber has had the pivot points smoothed, and I keep it lubed so it will almost fall open. You can easily open it with one hand like all my folders.  So I show her how to open it and she dutifully uses it until the next day when I see her head for the scissors again.  What now my love?  “ I don’t know how to close it”.
Why could you not say this months ago and save me the frustration ?
I am counting the days waiting for a relapse !

Another example- - -

We live in lower (slower) Calvert County and much of our business is across the bridge in St Marys.
Easy peasy, come down Truman Road to the Giant, turn right (on red), proceed to Route 2/4 and wait for the light. Jump on to route 2/4 and it is a straight shot to the bridge.
Not my lovely bride, she waits for the light, and proceeds straight to the traffic circle where you most often have to stop, and people are prone to blast into the circle from the County Connector which you cannot see headed southbound. Then down to Dowell Road and another stop sign. Through that to the stop sign by CVS, and finally to the red light there where you almost always have to stop.
And finally across the bridge.

I ask why she does it and she explains that it is hard to merge back at Rousby Hall Road.  That is why I bought her “hup mobile” with the largest available engine (260HP) so she could merge at will, it is quick and will pin you to your seat.
So being a reasonable guy I buy that, fine you don’t like to merge. So why in the hell do you retrace your route coming back from St Marys when you are already established on route 2/4 ? ? ?

Then she has the nerve to ask me why she needs brake pads so often!

One more example - - -

Being on dialysis I have to wear an elastic belt to corral the tube coming out of my stomach so it does not get tangled up with my pecker .  I have six and I keep them neatly rolled up and stored on the shelves with my other dialysis supplies.  I have to wear one into the shower to control my catheter.
I give the one I am wearing a good scrub with anti bacterial soap and rinse it off good. Every couple swaps they go in the laundry.

So here I am headed to physical therapy (rotator cuff), running late, wifey is off doing wifey stuff, hop out of the shower, and reach for my bag of belts.  Of course they are gone, my lovely bride has decided on a better place to store them, but has not bothered to tell me about it.
So here I am with a wet catheter belt searching like a madman to try to make my appointment.

Why can’t you just leave my fucking shit alone ?????

The latest from Capt Mike

On my last flight, the pilot comes over the public address system as usual and to greet the passengers. He tells us at what altitude they’ll be flying, the expected arrival time, and a bit about the weather, and advises us to relax and have a good flight.. Then, forgetting to turn off the microphone, he says to his co-pilot, “What would relax me right now is a cup of coffee and a blowjob.” All the passengers hear it. As a stewardess immediately begins to run toward the cockpit to tell the pilot of his slip-up.

I yelled out “Don’t forget the coffee!”

Beware of old men !

If you have never heard of Samuel Whittemore you are most likely not alone or have never been to an Appleseed marksmanship clinic. It is unfortunate that his name isn't taught and lauded in schools and across the country.

See Sam was veteran. He originally came over from England as a dragoon in His Majesty's service. He fought often and survived the French and Indian War not an easy feat. He had a collection of war trophies such as a French Officers saber and dueling pistols that whenever anyone enquired about how got them he would reply " the owner no longer had need of them" Sam was a bad a$$, an 18 century operator who had seen the worst of guerrilla war this continent could dish out. On April the 19th, 1775 Sam was the ripe old age of 78 .....an amazing oldster in the 18th century. He was shook out of sleep by a column of 800 redcoats marching through the middle of town of Menotomy off to disarm the citizens of Concord. Being alarmed he did nothing until a reinforcement column came through later on in the morning. Sam knew something bad was a foot and soon reports of fighting made their way back to the town. He had a decision to make was it to be King and Country or Friends and Neighbors ? Why should he even care he had more than done his service and what could an old man do? This was not how Samuel Whittemore was..so he grabbed his dueling pistols and Saber and Musket and using his skill found the perfect spot on the road where the Redcoats would be marching back to Boston. Many of the town's militia tried to talk him out of it as the column inevitably came they pleaded for him to to retreat to a more secure spot but Sam knew what he wanted and they left him there by himself. As soon as the column got within range of his musket he began to fire and kill redcoats. He was so accurate that a British officer ordered a group of Grenadiers (beefeaters big ugly burly dudes) to charge and put a stop to the "group" of men doing this from the stone wall. As the soldiers got closer they saw it was only an old man. Sam undeterred pulled his pistols killing another one and wounding a second. He had no time left to reload so that trusty Saber came out as he battled men 1/4 of his age skillfully to their surprise. It didn't take long for the group to overwhelm him as one redcoat cracked his skull with a musket butt to back of the head as another shot him in jaw. They had their revenge as they stabbed the old warrior 13 times with their 16 inch bayonets as the neighbors watched in horror. The helpless towns people could do nothing but retrieve the body but had to wait until the column had passed and the fighting stopped. They bounded over the wall to find old Sam in a pool of his blood alive...trying to reload his musket ! They quickly got a door and gently placed him on it dragged to him to nearest doctor. We all know what 18th century medicine was like ..the Doctor knew there was nothing he could do for him and it was in the hands of the Almighty which the doctor knew he would be meeting soon. He suggested they make him as comfortable as possible and wait for him to pass. Sam did die...but not until18 years later !

As you watch the Super Bowl this weekend or do whatever think of Sam and the long line of those people who you know nothing about or history doesn't mention or record. They did it for us. John Adams wrote this quote as he rode up and down Battle Road that day seeing the sacrifice that was freely given:

"Posterity! you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom! I hope you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it."

May we all use our freedom to it's fullest for that is what they wished us do so we wouldn't have to stand on the Green.

Stolen from Fritzer

The case of Jimmy Lee Dykes

A Navy veteran who served honorably, but has become so estranged from society that he patrols his property lines and built a bunker on his property.

He shot a bus driver and kidnapped a child recently but the signs of his estrangement from society have been obvious for years.

What are we as a society responsible to do to prevent such tragedies?

He is a veteran and as such the Veterans Administration owes him some care.

How many veterans like him are there out there?

How do we care for these folks so they do not become headlines?

It is a fine line between crushing someones rights and protecting them from themselves.

I submit that we are not doing a very good job of caring for our fellow man.

Another classy Dem !

"Two women from the Dominican Republic told The Daily Caller that Democratic  Sen.  paid them for sex earlier this year.
In interviews, the two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000-acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100.
The women spoke through a translator in the company of their attorney, Melanio Figueroa. Both asked that their identities remain obscured for fear of reprisals in the Dominican Republic."

A lesson on gun control !

Britain and Australia top US in violent crime
Rates Down Under increase despite strict gun-control measures

By Jon Dougherty
WorldNetDaily.com
Law enforcement and anti-crime activists regularly claim that the United States tops the charts in most crime-rate categories, but a new international study says that America's former master -- Great Britain -- has much higher levels of crime.
The International Crime Victims Survey, conducted by Leiden University in Holland, found that England and Wales ranked second overall in violent crime among industrialized nations.
Twenty-six percent of English citizens -- roughly one-quarter of the population -- have been victimized by violent crime. Australia led the list with more than 30 percent of its population victimized.
The United States didn't even make the "top 10" list of industrialized nations whose citizens were victimized by crime.
Jack Straw, the British home secretary, admitted that "levels of victimization are higher than in most comparable countries for most categories of crime."
Highlights of the study indicated that:
  • The percentage of the population that suffered "contact crime" in England and Wales was 3.6 percent, compared with 1.9 percent in the United States and 0.4 percent in Japan.
  • Burglary rates in England and Wales were also among the highest recorded. Australia (3.9 percent) and Denmark (3.1 per cent) had higher rates of burglary with entry than England and Wales (2.8 percent). In the U.S., the rate was 2.6 percent, according to 1995 figures;
  • "After Australia and England and Wales, the highest prevalence of crime was in Holland (25 percent), Sweden (25 percent) and Canada (24 percent). The United States, despite its high murder rate, was among the middle ranking countries with a 21 percent victimization rate," the London Telegraph said.
  • England and Wales also led in automobile thefts. More than 2.5 percent of the population had been victimized by car theft, followed by 2.1 percent in Australia and 1.9 percent in France. Again, the U.S. was not listed among the "top 10" nations.
  • The study found that Australia led in burglary rates, with nearly 4 percent of the population having been victimized by a burglary. Denmark was second with 3.1 percent; the U.S. was listed eighth at about 1.8 percent.
Interestingly, the study found that one of the lowest victimization rates -- just 15 percent overall -- occurred in Northern Ireland, home of the Irish Republican Army and scene of years of terrorist violence.
Analysts in the U.S. were quick to point out that all of the other industrialized nations included in the survey had stringent gun-control laws, but were overall much more violent than the U.S.
Indeed, information on Handgun Control's Center to Prevent Handgun Violence website actually praises Australia and attempts to portray Australia as a much safer country following strict gun-control measures passed by lawmakers in 1996.
"The next time a credulous friend or acquaintance tells you that Australia actually suffered more crime when they got tougher on guns ... offer him a Foster's, and tell him the facts," the CPHV site says.
"In 1998, the rate at which firearms were used in murder, attempted murder, assault, sexual assault and armed robbery went down. In that year, the last for which statistics are available, the number of murders involving a firearm declined to its lowest point in four years," says CPHV.
However, the International Crime Victims Survey notes that overall crime victimization Down Under rose from 27.8 percent of the population in 1988, to 28.6 percent in 1991 to over 30 percent in 1999.
Advocates of less gun control in the U.S. say the drop in gun murder rates was more than offset by the overall victimization increase. Also, they note that Australia leads the ICVS report in three of four categories -- burglary (3.9 percent of the population), violent crime (4.1 percent) and overall victimization (about 31 percent).
Australia is second to England in auto theft (2.1 percent).
In March 2000, WorldNetDaily reported that since Australia's widespread gun ban, violent crime had increased in the country.
WND reported that, although lawmakers responsible for passing the ban promised a safer country, the nation's crime statistics tell a different story:
  • Countrywide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.
  • Assaults are up 8.6 percent.
  • Amazingly, armed robberies have climbed nearly 45 percent.
  • In the Australian state of Victoria, gun homicides have climbed 300 percent.
  • In the 25 years before the gun bans, crime in Australia had been dropping steadily.
  • There has been a reported "dramatic increase" in home burglaries and assaults on the elderly.
